JUST NOW: Retention of the 26-year-old starter is anticipated by the Green Bay Packers (Report)

After moving on from Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers demonstrated to the NFL that they are unwilling to go into rebuild mode. Being one of the four teams still in the NFC startled the football world, as did Jordan Love and this young Packers offense.

Throughout the season, the defense saw ups and downs, but in the postseason, they emerged victorious and were instrumental in the Packers’ run to the divisional round. They are now anticipated to keep one of their starters.

One of the starting players for the Green Bay Packers is anticipated to stay.

According to the 33rd Team, Savage is the major free agent for the Packers that needs to be re-signed this offseason.

Undoubtedly, Darnell Savage’s career with the Green Bay Packers has been up and down, but in the postseason, he played better. He was all over the field and produced an amazing pick-six against Dak Prescott in the opening round of the playoffs.

Since there aren’t many unrestricted free agents for the Packers to worry about, it makes sense to keep Savage around for a another year or so.

Darnell Savage’s return to the Green Bay Packers in 2024 is not a given. In fact, following the Packers’ NFC divisional round loss to the 49ers, he sounded as if he could be prepared to move on to something else.

I mean, are there any annoyances? Yes, because, you know, I am aware of who I am and what I am capable of.” Savage stated following the Packers’ defeat by the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round (via Madison.com’s Jason Wilde). “Man, everyone has a unique story to tell. Some folks require more time to reach their destination. I personally don’t think I’ll ever stop developing. Whether it’s here or elsewhere, I believe that I will always be that way.

Savage was chosen by the Packers with the 21st overall pick in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has 302 combined tackles over 72 games, two forced fumbles, and nine interceptions.

Additionally, it doesn’t seem like the Packers are prepared to spend a lot of money on a contract for Savage, but a protracted offseason may change their mind.
