Good news for St Kilda as their star forward, Max King, has been given the all-clear after concerns arose about a potential major knee injury during the Saints’ narrow loss to Greater Western Sydney. Despite enduring several long-term injuries throughout his career, King has been fortunate this time, leaving him with a chance to feature in St Kilda’s upcoming game against the Western Bulldogs.

Saints coach Ross Lyon expressed optimism following the match, suggesting that King’s absence wouldn’t be prolonged. Subsequent scans on Sunday confirmed Lyon’s positive assessment, revealing no structural damage to King’s knee. Instead, King is dealing with swelling and pain consistent with a knee contusion.

The Saints are hopeful that King will be able to train during the week and make himself available for selection for Thursday night’s game. However, St Kilda is still managing injuries to other players, including Liam Henry, Brad Crouch, and Mason Wood, who remain sidelined.

The clash between St Kilda and Greater Western Sydney also resulted in injuries to Giants players Sam Taylor, who suffered a concussion, and Stephen Coniglio, who injured his knee.
