Knicks not certain on which player to trade but can trade out any player without fear of…
The New York Knicks are eagerly anticipating the upcoming off-season, with a strong emphasis on crafting a championship-worthy team. Following a season where Jalen Brunson demonstrated his leadership skills in the playoffs, it’s clear the Knicks require greater depth and must tackle injuries that hindered their competitiveness. President Leon Rose is reportedly exploring significant roster adjustments, with Ian Begley from SNY suggesting that nearly every player could be subject to trade discussions, except for Brunson.
The New York Knicks are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming off-season, with a strong focus on assembling a championship-worthy team. Following Jalen Brunson’s standout performance in the playoffs, it’s evident that the team needs to deepen its roster and address injury concerns. President Leon Rose is reportedly considering major changes to the roster, with nearly every player open to trade discussions except for Brunson.
However, such moves could involve trading Mitchell Robinson to free up salary space, possibly Julius Randle as well despite his high salary demands. Another option is trading Robinson and Bojan Bogdanovic, whose combined contracts approach $35 million. Retaining Bogdanovic might enable the Knicks to be more aggressive in trades, potentially packaging him with Randle or Robinson. These flexible contracts provide the Knicks with various ways to reshape their roster.
Robinson’s defensive prowess is highly valued, but his frequent injuries raise concerns about his future with the team, especially as they consider securing Isaiah Hartenstein long-term. Additionally, the Knicks must decide on a possible extension for OG Anunoby, which could exceed $150 million.
Acquiring Karl-Anthony Towns presents challenges due to his recent playoff struggles and injury history, possibly necessitating a multi-team trade. This would likely involve significant roster changes, prompting the Knicks to seek replacements through the NBA Draft or free agency to bolster depth for the 2024-25 season.
