On Friday night, the Philadelphia Phillies secured an 8-2 victory over the Miami Marlins. Nevertheless, designated hitter Kyle Schwarber encountered an injury scare during the game.

Schwarber exited the game late due to back soreness, but he’s not overly worried about it. “I just wanted to get out of there,” Schwarber said. “I’ll probably take tomorrow off just to make sure we’re good to go. I think hopefully I’ll wake up tomorrow feeling better, and we’ll keep going.” Phillies manager Rob Thomson shared a similar sentiment, stating, “Schwarber came up with a sore back. We’ll have to reevaluate that tomorrow but I don’t think it’s serious.” The team will assess Schwarber’s condition over the weekend, hoping it’s nothing serious, considering the grueling 162-game season. Despite Schwarber’s struggles early in the 2024 season, with a .217 batting average and a league-leading 59 strikeouts, the Phillies value his power potential and patience at the plate. The team currently leads the NL East with a 27-12 record, but maintaining health, including Schwarber’s, will be crucial for their success. While Schwarber isn’t expected to play on Saturday, the Phillies aim to continue their winning streak against the Marlins.
