LASTEST NEWS:Eagles to Watch Talent Worth $59 Million Enter NFL Free Agency

Through the first 12 weeks of the 2023 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles appeared to be well on their way to returning to the Big Game after suffering a devastating loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Nick Sirianni’s team was 10-1 and leading the NFC East and the NFC standings overall after defeating the Buffalo Bills in overtime in Week 12.

However, the Eagles’ success ended there as they lost five of their final six games in the regular season to conclude at 11-6, good for second place in the division behind the Dallas Cowboys and the No. 5 seed in the NFC.

The bad start persisted into the postseason as the Philadelphia Eagles were humiliated 32–9 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card Round. Following a string of coaching changes brought about by the late-season slump, the team will soon witness the free agency of over 20 players.

Jason Kelce, an All-Pro center who hasn’t decided whether to retire, is one of them. But in addition to Kelce, a number of other well-known players will also be available, including as Marcus Mariota, Julio Jones, D’Andre Swift, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Graham.

Complete List of 2024 Free Agents for the Philadelphia Eagles

This offseason, the Eagles have a ton of pending free agents, most of whom play offensive football.

Swift, Boston Scott, and Rashaad Penny are the other two Philly running backs who are expected to enter the market. The pass catchers that will be joining Jones are Olamide Zaccheaus and Quez Watkins.

The Eagles’ defensive free agents are led by seasoned players Cox and Graham, but the group also includes Shaq Leonard, Zach Cunningham, Nicholas Morrow, and Justin Evans.

That’s around $59 million worth of Eagles talent, for those keeping track.

The Eagles have a number of large contracts for the 2024 season signed. However, Jalen Hurts, a quarterback in the Pro Bowl, does not have the largest cap hit, despite popular belief.

That distinction goes to linebacker Haason Reddick, whose cap charge is $21.877 million, according to Over The Cap. At $13,558,800, Hurts’ 2024 cap hit is actually only the fourth highest on the club. Kevin Byard ($14.417 million) and Lane Johnson ($16.115 million) are positioned in second and third place, respectively.

Even so, Howie Roseman is in a respectable position going into free agency because the Eagles are expected to have $20,284,984 in salary-cap space when free agency starts, which ranks them 18th in the NFL.

And given that the Eagles will probably make a few cuts here and there, that number will probably rise. As the offseason progresses, Josh Sweat, James Bradberry, and Kevin Byard might be among the cap casualties.
