Latest 76ers News: After an outstanding debut, Buddy Hield opens up about trades

Purchasing Buddy Hield was the Philadelphia 76ers’ largest trade deadline acquisition. Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz, and draft compensation were given to them in exchange for the veteran sharpshooter from the Indiana Pacers.

Hield saw himself suiting up for his new squad for the first time just one day after being traded. With injuries and previous deals, Nick Nurse’s options against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday were limited. Hield had a fantastic start, scoring 20 points and dishing out six assists. In addition, four of his twelve efforts from beyond the arc were successful

Hield was questioned about his feelings about moving from Indiana to Philadelphia following the game. After being linked to the Sixers via years of rumors, he expressed his happiness to be a member of the team.

“[My agent] gave me the news and she said there’s a deal about to be set, 75% done and I was like, ‘With Philly?’ and she’s like yeah and I was like I’ve been hearing that for a long time, but it never happens,” Hield recounted. “But I’m just glad to be here glad to be a Sixer and the fans and everybodys been great and embracing me and all I want to say is I can’t wait to know about the city and for you guys to tell me what to do and where to go and I’m just taking it day by day man.”

Hield played in 53 games for the Pacers prior to being traded. During that period, he shot 38.2% from three-point range and scored 12.1 points per game.
