In late December, the NFL unveiled the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2024. Former players Jahri Evans and Eric Allen were among them. The Hall of Fame will be released the Thursday before the Super Bowl on February 8th, and five people from the list will be inducted.

From 2006 to 2016, Evans was a right guard with the Saints, where he helped them win a Super Bowl and was selected to the first team of the All-Pro team for four consecutive seasons (2009–2012). He was a second-team All-Pro and was selected for six Pro Bowls.

During his one and only season with the Saints (1995–1997), Allen was named to the Pro Bowl in his first year of play. Six Pro Bowls, the most with the Philadelphia Eagles, a first-team All-Pro (1989), and two second-team All-Pro selections were earned by the cornerback during his career. Three players had an NFL record four pick-sixes in a season, including Allen, until DaRon Bland broke it this year.

The other 13 finalists are as follows:

– Jared Allen

– Willie Anderson

– Dwight Freeney
– Antonio Gates

– Rodney Harrison

– Devin Hester
– Torry Holt
– Andre Johnson

– Julius Peppers

– Fred Taylor
– Reggie Wayne

– Patrick Willis

– Darren Woodson
Given that this is Allen’s first year as a finalist but not his first year of eligibility, the odds of him making the Hall of Fame are remote. Evans has more accomplishments to his name and is a few years away from becoming eligible for the first time (five years from last year in the NFL).

The NFL Honors, which airs on CBS and NFL Network at 8 p.m. CT, will reveal the inductees. It’s available to stream on NFL+ and Paramount+.
