LATEST INJURY UPDATE: After suffering a scary head injury against the Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks star Dereck Lively II

The Dallas Mavericks have been plagued by injuries for a while now. After youngster Dereck Lively II was carried to the locker room during the first half of the Mavs’ Game 3 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night, the team lost another important player.

Karl-Anthony Towns, the best player for the Wolves, gave Lively a hard blow to the head, forcing the Mavs center to return to the locker room to get himself examined for a potential concussion.

As soon as Lively was hit, he grasped onto his head. A knee that was accidentally thrown at the Mavs center’s side of the head caught him mid-fall. It was not appealing:
Towns’ actions were obviously premeditated, while the knee to Lively’s head was an accident.

That being said, While being assisted by his teammates to the locker room, Lively appeared dazed:

It’s uncertain right now if Lively will be able to play the game again. With a goal to take a 3-0 series lead, the Mavs led 60–52 at the half.

Since head injuries can be complicated, it’s hoped Lively hasn’t had a concussion. Unfortunately, if the 20-year-old is found to have had a concussion, it is highly possible that he will have to leave time from work.
