LATEST: LB Quintavion Norman Commits to Kentucky

National Signing Day is another chance for Kentucky to put another piece in the 2024 puzzle. Quintavion Norman pledged to play for the Wildcats on Wednesday morning.

Norman, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound linebacker who is new to football, hails from Covington, Georgia. His first season on the gridiron was last fall, which is partly why not many people have heard of him before.

At first, Norman intended to hone his skills at the junior college level because he was unranked by all of the major recruiting organizations. His athleticism attracted the attention of Kentucky’s coaching staff while he worked hard in the classroom to raise his grades. They think he will have a significant positive impact on Kentucky’s linebacker room.

“They were telling me the Josh Allen story and how his story went. They like my story too, so it kind of matches,” he told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+. [Kentucky] found him the last weekend going into signing day.”

Over the weekend, Norman paid a formal visit and immediately felt at home. He is exactly the kind of off-ball linebacker prospect that Kentucky looks for. Norman is an athletic, long-limbed man who moves quickly.

He is comparable to other incoming freshmen who are unfamiliar with the position, despite the fact that he does not have impressive recruitment rankings. In the 2024 recruiting class, Kentucky signed a large number of EDGEs with the goal of using them as inside linebackers when playing off the ball. The Wildcats are taking a risk in the hopes that more than one of these ambitious initiatives succeeds spectacularly.

Examining the Kentucky Football Recruiting Class of 2024 in More Detail

The Wildcats will be within the top 25 of the On3 Industry Ranking in the end. The Texas long snapper Trent Baker, who committed on Tuesday, is not included in the class of 2024 recruits; Norman is the 22nd player to join. Norman is the seventh player in the class to have played outside linebacker or stood up throughout their high school career. Brad White will need to mentor these players and instill in them the importance of taking their medication on a regular basis if he hopes to keep the defense intact in the future.
