LATEST NEWS: Insider Reveals Yankees Are Trying to Sign One Pitcher..

There is a huge hole in the starting rotation for the New York Yankees.

The Yankees are searching for a replacement pitcher after learning that Gerrit Cole will be out for at least one to two months.
Fortunately for them, a few quality free agents are still available.

Jordan Montgomery and Blake Snell are the two best starting pitchers available right now.

They will, however, be the most expensive.

It seems the Yankees are looking for a guy that will cost less because they don’t want to spend a lot of money on another free agent.

Jon Heyman reports that Michael Lorenzen has being checked on by the Yankees.

During his pitching tenure with the Philadelphia Phillies in the previous season, he tossed a no-hitter.
Last season, Lorenzen pitched for the Phillies and the Detroit Tigers.

Over 153.0 innings, his ERA was 4.18.

He is not, however, close to what they are losing with Cole.

The Yankees appeared to be “all in” for 2024 after acquiring Juan Soto.

That does not, however, imply that you should pass on a top free agent.
If they want to compete in baseball’s most competitive division, they need much more than someone like Lorenzen.

If Lorenzen signs to replace Cole, the majority of Yankees supporters will not be pleased.

With the Yankees missing the playoffs the previous season, they ought to be under pressure to contend in 2024.

An appearance in the playoffs would be the ultimate reward.

It will be interesting to see what decisions the Yankees make in the run-up to the regular season.
