LATEST NEWS: Leeds united fan injured after falling from top tier while celebrating goal in FA Cup clash against Chelsea

Following an altercation in the stands during Leeds’ FA Cup fifth-round encounter against Chelsea on Wednesday, a Leeds supporter was sent to the hospital.

In the eighth minute of their FA Cup match at Stamford Bridge, Leeds took the lead, setting off the incident that is currently under investigation.

It was stated that during the celebrations after the visitors’ early goal, the fan fell from the top tier of the away end.

Although neither club acknowledged a fan falling, they both reported a “incident” to have happened. Neither team provided an instant update on the fan’s condition.

Following the final whistle, both clubs released statements, although they omitted specifics about the events that transpired.

“Leeds United can confirm an incident involving a Leeds United supporter occurred in the Shed End of Stamford Bridge during the first half of tonight’s FA Cup game,” said a statement from Leeds.

“The incident is being investigated and is in the hands of the emergency services.”

Chelsea said in a statement: “Chelsea FC can confirm that during the first half of tonight’s FA Cup game, there was an incident involving a Leeds United supporter in the Shed End of Stamford Bridge.”

Mateo Joseph’s second goal of the night did not dampen the jubilation, even if Conor Gallagher’s 90th-minute winner dampened the atmosphere in the Shed End. The game itself was not delayed and was mostly overlooked at the time.

Leeds was allotted fewer away tickets for the match because it was considered a “high risk.” Leeds received 5,366 tickets from Chelsea, which reduced the quantity of tickets for both the home and away sections.

The fans have a fierce rivalry that dates back to the 1960s, when the north-south divide contributed to the gap between supporters. The division’s repercussions can still be felt when the two teams play each other today.
