Michigan football has brought on Sean Magee, previously with the Chicago Bears, to serve as the program’s General Manager and Senior Associate Athletic Director, according to information obtained by The Michigan Insider.

Magee, who held the position of Chief of Staff with the Bears since 2022, returns to Michigan where he previously worked as the Associate Athletic Director for Football under Jim Harbaugh. In his prior role at Michigan, Magee oversaw various aspects of the football program, including football operations, player personnel, player development, human resources functions, and served as a liaison to the Athletic Director and Senior Leadership Team.

As the Football General Manager, Magee’s responsibilities encompass directing all facets of recruiting for prospective student-athletes and leading Michigan Football’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) activities. This role involves collaborating with the Head Football Coach, assistant coaches, and recruiting personnel staff in identifying and evaluating potential recruits, managing the current roster while planning for future needs, overseeing on-campus recruiting visits, recruiting collegiate student-athletes from the NCAA transfer portal, establishing relationships with recruits and their families, managing high school coach contacts, organizing institutional summer football camps, liaising with NFL scouts, overseeing the recruiting budget, setting and executing short and long term NIL goals, acting as the NIL representative for Michigan Athletics, presenting NIL resources to student-athletes, cultivating relationships with NIL partners, and ensuring compliance with departmental, university, Big Ten Conference, and NCAA policies and regulations.

Sherrone Moore was promoted from offensive coordinator/offensive line coach to head coach, and the defensive staff was revamped with the addition of Wink Martindale as defensive coordinator and Steve Casula as tight ends coach.
