Although the current football season is not officially concluded, the Atlanta Falcons are already gearing up for the next one. Having secured a head coach, offensive and defensive coordinators, and a special teams coordinator, Raheem Morris and his team are now focused on filling specific position coaching roles.

In a recent announcement on Thursday evening, it was revealed that the Falcons have enlisted Ike Hilliard as their wide receivers coach and Kevin Koger as the tight ends coach. Hilliard, a former first-round pick by the New York Giants in 1997, enjoyed an eight-season stint with the Giants before concluding his playing career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he spent four seasons. Following his retirement, Hilliard transitioned into coaching, serving as a receivers coach for various NFL teams, including the Washington Commanders, Buffalo Bills, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Most recently, he held the position of wide receivers coach and interim co-offensive coordinator for the Auburn Tigers football team.

On the other hand, Koger, who played tight end at the University of Michigan, previously worked as the offensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers from 2019 to 2020. Subsequently, he assumed the role of tight ends coach for the Los Angeles Chargers from 2021 to the present. Koger’s move to Atlanta can be attributed to the restructuring of the Chargers’ coaching staff under the new head coach, Jim Harbaugh, leading to this lateral transition.
