While Southampton’s whole attention will be on continuing their push for Premier League promotion, one must also keep a watch on their preparations for the summer transfer market.
Southampton will undoubtedly witness a bit of a clearing of the decks at St Mary’s, regardless of the tier they play in next season. It’s possible that some of the people leaving the club have already played their final match for the Hampshire team.

In light of this, we examine three players who might not play for the Saints once more.

Romain Perraud

Perraud, a former youth international for France, left Stade Brestois to sign with Southampton in July 2021. He has made 60 appearances for the Saints throughout his tenure there, tallying 8 assists and 3 goals for the team.

Following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship, several players left the team. Among those departing was Perraud, who was returning to his former club, OGC Nice, in France, where he has an option to buy. His contract with the Saints expires in2025, and he may leave in the summer if they decide to stay a Championship team.

Carlos Alcaraz

Argentinian Alcaraz headed to Serie A side Juventus on loan in January. His time with the Italians has seen him make two appearances so far

Before that he featured in the first half of Saints’ 2023/24 Championship campaign, making 23 appearances, scoring three goals and registering one assist. Despite a contract with the Saints ending in 2028, he may well never play for the club again. Juventus have a purchase option but there’s no notice of whether they’ll activate that at present.

Armel Bella -Kotchap

German center back Bella-Kotchap, who was born in France, is presently on loan at PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. Since relocating to PSV in September of last year, the two-cap Germany international has made three league appearances for the team. In addition, he made two Champions League appearances for the Dutch team, however his playing time was restricted due to an injury.

It would seem likely that Southampton would relocate if they were to stay in the Championship. The German might believe that his future is not with the Hampshire club, even if they manage to return to the Premier League.
