NY’S ORCHARD PARK — Ronald Curry was hired on Wednesday to teach the quarterbacks for the Buffalo Bills, leaving his position with Derek Carr in New Orleans to work with Josh Allen in Buffalo.
Curry steps into the void left by Joe Brady, who was brought on as Buffalo’s full-time offensive coordinator last week after taking over as the team’s interim coordinator in November. The former wide receiver for the NFL has played for the Saints for the last eight years. In 2017 and 2018, he collaborated with Brady there.

Curry was the quarterbacks coach and coordinator of New Orleans’ passing game for the last two seasons under Dennis Allen. Prior to that, he was the team’s receivers coach under former head coach Sean Payton.

In his three seasons as the quarterbacks coach, Curry has managed a rotating cast of players. He assumed the position in 2021, the year after Drew Brees announced his retirement. Carr, Jameis Winston, Trevor Siemian, Andy Dalton, and even converted tight end Taysom Hill have all been New Orleans’ starting during that period.

With Allen, the team’s undeniable leader, beginning his sixth season as a starter, the Buffalo Bills have continuity at the position.

Curry played receiver for the Raiders for seven years, from 2002 to 2008; he has eleven seasons of NFL coaching experience.

His appointment was made public along with the other offseason staff hires made by head coach Sean McDermott.

Christian Taylor was hired as the team’s defensive quality control coach, and Jahmile Addae as the coach of the cornerbacks.

The Associated Press was informed by a person with direct knowledge of the decision that Addae has taken John Butler’s place as defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator. Butler and the team came to an understanding for Butler to leave Buffalo after six seasons. The individual spoke to the AP under condition of anonymity because Butler’s departure—which follows the Bills’ promotion of linebackers coach Bobby Babich to defensive coordinator—was not disclosed by the team.

Addae was a college coach for the previous seventeen seasons, the last two of which he directed the Miami Hurricanes secondary.

With 16 years of collegiate coaching experience, Taylor most recently served as William & Mary’s offensive coordinator and running backs coach.
