To increase the depth of expertise on their coaching staff, the Seattle Seahawks seem ready to bring on a former NFL head coach.

Leslie Frazier, a former defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills, is joining the Seahawks as an assistant head coach, per an NFL Network report that was published on Friday afternoon.

Frazier, 64, led the Bills’ defense for six years before taking a year off from coaching in 2023. Buffalo placed in the top five in both scoring and total defense three times while he was in charge.

Mike Macdonald was appointed head coach of Seattle on Wednesday after the team fired longtime coach Pete Carroll on January 10.

Apart from his tenure as defensive coordinator for four separate teams, Frazier led the Minnesota Vikings from 2010 to 2013. Throughout his career, he was 21–32–1, and in 2012, he led the Vikings to the playoffs before falling to the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round.

With the exception of his year off, the former defensive back for the Chicago Bears has been a part of NFL coaching every season since 1999.
