LATEST NEWS:Fabrizio Romano reveals why Sunderland were unable to sign Man Utd’s Amad Diallo revealed

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag were eager to trust young player Amad Diallo, therefore a loan to the Championship was never entertained for him.

The Ivorian was the focus of a lot of conjecture during the January transfer window, with teams like Sunderland and Leicester City being connected to moves for him before the window opened.

Throughout the window, there was constant speculation that Diallo would return to the Stadium of Light. This was not surprising, given the Black Cats had seen Diallo score 14 goals and dish out four assists in 42 games while he was on Wearside the previous season.

The Black Cats were the team most frequently connected to a transfer for the attacker, and at one point, it even appeared as though a reunion was feasible. Southampton was rumored to be interested in the attacker as well.

Even though the Wearside club demonstrated a willingness to spend on players this season by adding Leo Hjelde and Romaine Mundle on a permanent basis during the January transfer window, a switch ultimately fell through.

Despite Diallo’s injury-plagued start to the season, which prevented him from playing until January, the Black Cats’ attempts to secure a new contract for him were not helped by this development.

Why Amad Diallo was not signed by Sunderland

According to Romano, Diallo and ten Hag had a critical chat in January that was thought to be essential to preparing him for his upcoming role in United’s team.

Given that the Ivorian is unlikely to be a consistent starter until the end of the season and possibly even beyond, it would have been simple for United to send him out on another loan.

Even though the 21-year-old has little top-level experience, the Red Devils and ten Hag were eager to put their trust in him.

And that prevented the Black Cats from moving to a lower league, even though they appeared to make a strong effort to get his signature.

The pursuit of Amad Diallo may have been one regret for Sunderland.

Kristjaan Speakman, a prominent player for the Black Cats, has disclosed that the team might have lost out on a signing because of their intense pursuit of Diallo.

Considering Diallo’s talent, it makes sense to pursue him.

Additionally, he may have assisted in making up for a forward section that wasn’t operating well.

However, they had to give this area top priority since they were in dire need of an experienced striker.

They might lose out if they don’t take care of this issue if they want to finish in the top six at the end of the campaign.
