This offseason, the New York Yankees still have the opportunity to bolster their bullpen with talent. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees have “talked” to Ryan Brasier, a former Red Sox reliever, about being interested in him as a free agent.

Ryan Brasier is someone the Yankees are interested in signing.
Notwithstanding the several additions the Yankees have already made this winter, they are still engaged in free agency. The Padres’ Blake Snell appeared to be the Yankees’ next big target, but the 31-year-old lefty’s outlandish price demands have the Yankees focusing on the bullpen for the time being.

Now that the Yankees are looking for bullpen talent, Heyman mentioned Brasier as one of their possible targets. With a strong 2023 season behind him, the 36-year-old righty might have a significant effect on the team. He was most recently with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Last season, Brasier worked 38.2 innings for the Dodgers, recording a 0.70 ERA with only six runs allowed while winning two of his 39 games. For Brasier, who struggled with the Red Sox in the first half of the season, this was a significant return to form. Pitching for Boston, he gave up 18 runs in 21.0 innings, with an ERA of 7.29.

The Yankees may try to sign Brasier in an effort to acquire the Los Angeles version of the player. However, the Bronx Bombers are considering a number of additional options to bolster their pen in addition to Brasier.

Heyman adds that in addition to Brasier, the Yankees have also had conversations with pitchers like Keynan Middleton and Phil Maton. Other than acquiring Marcus Stroman, New York has not had much luck this summer in terms of adding pitching talent. Brasier might be their next addition to the mix of talented arms.
