When the Toronto Raptors prepare to play the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night, they will once again be severely shorthanded. The Raptors declared that Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl were both officially out. Poeltl has been absent for more than two weeks due to an ankle sprain, but he is still recovering. Although he has started participating in team activities on the court, he is not yet cleared to play. He reported that his ankle is feeling considerably better, but before playing again, he wants to get the team’s formal OK.

In the meantime, Quickley suffered a right thigh injury during Toronto’s Memphis Grizzlies defeat. Although he played through the ailment, on Thursday it started to bother him again. Raptors coach Darko Rajaković stated that although he did not take part in the team’s practice, he will travel with them and is anticipated to return at some time. Rajaković continued, “Scottie Barnes will return to his position as the lead point guard, with Dennis Schröder assisting in leading the second unit.” With Quickley out, Jordan Nwora or Kira Lewis Jr. might get their first Raptors playing time in Toronto’s backcourt.

Ivica Zubac is still sidelined for the Clippers due to a right calf issue. Due to his injury, Los Angeles is now forced to start Mason Plumlee, who will probably face Toronto’s Jontay Porter. Daniel Theis, a valuable player off the bench for the Clippers, has experienced an increase in playing time. Moussa Diabaté, who has a fractured right hand, is also still sidelined for the Clippers.
