Ben McAdoo, who served the New York Giants from 2014 to 2017, initially as offensive coordinator and later as head coach, is reportedly in talks with Jerod Mayo, the new head coach of the New England Patriots, as per SI.com’s Albert Breer.

During his tenure with the Giants, McAdoo achieved an 11-5 record in his first season as head coach, securing the team’s first playoff berth since 2011. However, challenges arose in the following season, marked by injuries, locker room issues, and a controversial decision to bench Eli Manning for Geno Smith, leading to a 0-5 start.

The fallout resulted in McAdoo becoming the first Giants head coach fired mid-season since 1976. He remained inactive under his Giants contract until 2020 when he resurfaced as the quarterbacks coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Later, in 2022, McAdoo assumed the role of offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, replacing Joe Brady.

Should McAdoo join the Patriots, reports suggest it would be in the capacity of an assistant head coach, serving as a sounding board for offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.
