Arizona Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Minnesota Vikings have hired Josh McCown, a former quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, to coach quarterbacks.

The Cardinals selected McCown 81st overall in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft, which marked his entry into the league. He led Arizona to 22 game starts.

Before signing a free agent contract with the Detroit Lions, McCown played for the Cardinals for four seasons. After that, McCown played for a while with the Miami Dolphins, Oakland Raiders, Chicago Bears, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, and San Francisco 49ers before ending his career.

In 2010, he also played for the Hartford Colonials of the UFL. In the NFL, he has a 23-53 record with 98 touchdowns to 82 interceptions while starting and completing 60.2% of throws for 17,731 yards.

In 2019, he made one postseason appearance with the Eagles, going 18–24 for 174 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions that day.

McCown coached quarterbacks for the Panthers during the previous season.

Kirk Cousins’ return to the Vikings is uncertain, and there are whispers in Indianapolis that the team may try to select a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.
