The Wisconsin football program saw significant transition in 2023, which put Tanor Bortolini in a difficult situation.

Bortolini found himself thrust into one of the most challenging positions on the offense almost by default. It’s perplexing that in 2023, the Badgers didn’t head into the off-season equipped with a true center capable of both blocking and executing shotgun snaps simultaneously. Consequently, the Wisconsin native had the challenging task of being the next man up.

To his credit, he displayed improvement as the season unfolded. While many openly speculated about the potential enhancement of the offense with a healthy Jake Renfro, Bortolini diligently worked on refining his skills. Though his snapping never reached a level deemed “good,” it did progress toward the more “serviceable” end of the spectrum. Throughout this process, he remained one of the more consistently reliable blockers on the roster.

Empowered by the mental fortitude gained through a season of adversity, Bortolini made the decision to forego his remaining eligibility. As he steps into the 2024 NFL Draft, he stands poised to join the ranks of Wisconsin football offensive linemen striving to carve out a name for themselves. His inaugural step on this journey led him to Mobile, Alabama, and the 2024 Senior Bowl, where he lived up to expectations and left a lasting impression by not disappointing.
