LATEST UPDATE: Dyche and Moyes both commend a ‘superb’ West Ham player following their 3-1 victory over Everton.

Everton manager Sean Dyche praised Tomas Soucek’s exceptional late goal, describing it as a ‘great’ finish during West Ham United’s impressive 3-1 comeback win at Goodison Park. Once again, Dyche lamented Everton’s missed opportunities, acknowledging West Ham’s clinical performance which highlighted the hosts’ shortcomings.

David Moyes, West Ham’s manager, admitted that the 3-1 scoreline may have flattered his team, while also praising goalkeeper Alphonse Areola for his outstanding performance, particularly his crucial penalty save. Dyche also acknowledged Areola’s teammate, Tomas Soucek, for his beautifully executed curling goal that gave West Ham the lead in the 91st minute.

Dyche expressed disappointment as Everton suffered a collapse against West Ham. Speaking to BBC Sport, the gravel-voiced manager aired familiar grievances as relegation-threatened Everton extended their winless run to 10 games.

“We’re pretty much – not controlling the whole game – but we’ve got a firm hand on the game,” Dyche said. “We’ve got to go and score. I can’t stand here every week and say ‘the XG is through the roof’. It’s a marker but it doesn’t win you games. Winning games is scoring at one end and keeping it out at the other.

“They score a great goal, to be fair to them (from Soucek), to get their nose ahead. We’ve had so many chances today. High-quality moments in high-quality areas and we don’t score a goal. That’s my responsibility but also the players’ responsibility.”

It was a significant week for David Moyes. Soucek, often recognized for his towering headers and scrappy efforts, scored what could be considered the finest goal of his West Ham career in stoppage time. Midfield partner Edson Alvarez then sealed the victory on the counterattack, relieving pressure on former Everton boss Moyes following successive wins and seven goals in a week.

Moyes described Soucek’s sublime curling effort as “brilliant.” The towering Czech Republic international now has nine goals this season, one shy of his personal best.
