Former Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders worth up to $5 million, as per ESPN.

Ertz was a second round pick in the 2013 NFL pick by the Eagles and spent his first nine seasons with them. He caught 579 passes with 38 touchdowns and the Pro Bowl each season from 2017 to ’19.

The biggest catches of the Eagles Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots were both by Ertz on passes from QB Nick Foles.

The first was a fourth down catch with 5 ½ minutes left that extended the go-ahead drive and then Ertz caught the game-winning touchdown with 2 ½ minutes left.

Ertz played seven games with the Arizona Cardinals last season, catching 27 passes with one touchdown. He went on injured reserve with a quadriceps injury.

Ertz asked for his release from the Cardinals and signed with the Detroit Lions practice squad the week before the NFC Championship Game but was not elevated to the active roster for that game.
