LATEST UPDATE: Giants refuse Dallas Cowboys’ request to talk with assistant coach Andre Patterson.

The New York Giants may have lost to the Dallas Cowboys recently, so it’s likely that the team didn’t want to offer their division rivals any further benefits. In light of this, the Cowboys’ request to talk with defensive line coach Andre Patterson about a potential position on Mike Zimmer’s staff as the next defensive coordinator has been turned down by the Giants.

Patterson is still under contract with the Giants. He worked as the defensive line coach for Zimmer’s Minnesota Vikings from 2014 to 2019, taking on more duties as the team’s co-defensive coordinator in 2020 and associate head coach in 2021.

As one of the best assistant coaches for the Giants, Patterson, 63, was the defensive line coach for the Cowboys from 2000 to 2002. He also assisted Dexter Lawrence in becoming an All-Pro defensive lineman. Additionally, Patterson has assisted in the development of young players D.J. Davidson, a fifth-round draft pick in 2022, and Jordan Riley, a seventh-round selection last year. Brian Daboll, the head coach of the Giants, recently filled in the voids left by resignations and firings. Along with this, he elevated three other people to higher positions: defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, offensive coordinator like assistant head coach Kafka, and quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney, who oversees the offensive passing game.

In 1981, Patterson started his coaching career, working at the collegiate and high school levels. As the defensive line coach for the New England Patriots, he made his NFL debut in 1997.
