LATEST UPDATE: Information on Kyle Walker-Peters

Kyle Walker-Peters is expected to make a comeback from injury against Sunderland on Saturday, according to SAINTS manager Russell Martin’s hints.

In the final Championship game before their international break, the St Mary’s team hosts Preston North End on Wednesday night.

Walker-Peters, who had previously played every minute of league action, was injured at Liverpool and missed Saturday’s victory at Birmingham.

Martin stated at his pregame press conference that the 26-year-old is unlikely to play against Preston.

He revealed: “Kyle was back on the grass today which is good news

“Tomorrow may come a bit too early, it probably will but we are hopeful to have him involved on Saturday.”

Ryan Fraser, who was also sidelined by an injury this week, will make a comeback at the end of the month.

Due to their FA Cup advancement, Saints’ scheduled visit to promotion rivals Leicester City on Friday, March 15, will now take place at a later time.
The Scottish winger, who has previously missed games against Liverpool and Birmingham, could play against Middlesbrough on Friday, March 29.

“With the Leicester game being delayed until later in the season, suits him because it means he will miss one game less,” said Martin.

“If all goes according to plan, we anticipate him returning for the Middlesbrough match after that. It won’t be too long after that if he isn’t.”
