When the Las Vegas Raiders signed veteran Jimmy Garoppolo in the offseason, they thought they had found their quarterback. Sadly, it proved not to be the case as he had trouble staying consistent and was benched in favor of youngster Aidan O’Connell halfway through the season.

It became certain that Garoppolo would be released by the Raiders this offseason since doing so would save them a significant amount of money and the quarterback had lost his way. And Garoppolo found a new home in free agency rather quickly.

Garoppolo has consented to join with the Los Angeles Rams as their backup quarterback, per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times:

On Friday, the Rams identified a quarterback backup for standout player Matthew Stafford.

According to people with knowledge of the matter, Jimmy Garoppolo, who was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders this week, reached an agreement with the Rams. The individuals asked to remain anonymous since no contract had been signed.

This is a wise decision for Garoppolo and the Rams alike. Starting quarterback Matthew Stafford has struggled with injuries in the past, while other players, such as Brett Rypien, Carson Wentz, and John Wolford, have just never been able to perform well. Without a doubt, Garoppolo offers an improvement above them.

Additionally, Garoppolo sees this as an opportunity to restart his career and possibly find fresh energy when he joins the Rams and learns from one of the best offensive brains in football in Rams coach Sean McVay.

At the time, it appeared that Garoppolo and the Raiders would be a great fit, but things didn’t work out and the Raiders moved on fast. Now that Garoppolo has also found his footing, things will only get better from here on out for everyone.

Gardner Minshew II and the Raiders reach a two-year agreement.
The team did not let the failure with Garoppolo last season stop them from adding another veteran this offseason. After spending the previous season with the Indianapolis Colts, Gardner Minshew II committed to a two-year, $25 million contract with the Raiders.

Following Anthony Richardson’s injury, Minshew assumed the starting position in Indianapolis and finished 7–6 as a starter while throwing for 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns.
