There are a number of players out for both Sunderland and Norwich ahead of their Championship fixture at Carrow Road.
Swansea defeated the Black Cats 2-1 the previous game, their third straight loss in the Championship. Despite having won 11 of their previous five games, Norwich’s opponents were halted to a 1-1 draw against Blackburn on Saturday.
Before their match at Carrow Road, below is the most recent injury and team news for Sunderland and Norwich:
1. Sunderland’s Patrick Roberts – OUT
Due to a hamstring injury, Roberts had to leave Sunderland’s match against Huddersfield in the closing minutes. He has not yet returned to first team practice.
2. Norwich’s Jonathan Rowe – OUT
With 12 goals in the league this season, Norwich’s leading scorer will be sidelined for about two months due to a hamstring issue.
3. Sunderland’s Dan Ballard – OUT
Ballard will serve the second match of his two-match sentence for collecting ten yellow cards after missing the encounter against Swansea.
4. The New Yorker Shane Duffy OUT Due to a calf injury, Duffy, who has played in 28 Championship games this season, has missed Norwich’s previous four Championship games. It appears that the central defender will be out for a few more weeks.
5. Bradley Dack (Sunderland) – DOUBT Dack’s hamstring problem has prevented him from playing since Sunderland’s Boxing Day victory against Hull. At the Academy of Light, the 30-year-old has been intensifying his recuperation.
6. Jack Clarke (Sunderland) – DOUBT Clarke was out for last week’s match against Swansea due to a foot injury he sustained during Sunderland’s 2-1 loss to Birmingham. The winger’s problem will be evaluated before the match against Norwich.
7. Sundland’s Aji Alese – OUT
Prior to Sunderland’s encounter against Hull, Alese experienced yet another injury setback after starting three straight games at the beginning of the season. The defender has also been making more progress in his recuperation, but the team won’t want to push for an early return. Pictured by Frank Reid
8. Embleton, Elliot (Sunderland) – OUT
Following his comeback from a thigh injury, Embleton rolled his ankle during practice and appears to be out for several weeks.
9. Sunderland’s Corry Evans – Following an ACL injury in January of last year, OUT Evans is getting closer to making his eagerly anticipated comeback. The midfield player will make an appearance for the under-21 squad before gradually returning to first team practice.
10. Sundland’s Dennis Cirkin – OUT
Cirkin had surgery to treat a hamstring problem that has kept him out of action since November. The earliest possible time for the full-back to return is April.
11. Sunderland’s Niall Huggins – OUT
Due to a knee injury, the full-back, who was carted off the field during Sunderland’s 3-0 loss to Coventry in December, will miss the remainder of the season.
