The Houston Texans were already a strong squad heading into the previous campaign, and they’ve strengthened even further in the offseason with the addition of a few more key players. The majority of these upgrades, meanwhile, have been made to the defense, where star pass-rusher Danielle Hunter has been added along with other front seven and secondary adjustments.

However, Joe Mixon has emerged as Houston’s most significant offensive free agent signing thus far. He should assist a running offense that ranked 29th in the NFL with an average of just 3.7 yards per carry, but what about C.J. Stroud? Are there any intentions to acquire further offensive weaponry for the rising star?

The Houston Texans reportedly attempted to trade for Keenan Allen as well, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. For the pitiful price of a fourth-round pick, the Los Angeles Chargers sent the six-time Pro Bowl receiver to the Chicago Bears.

Due to his hefty $23.1 million 2024 cap hit, Allen was ultimately let go by the salary-strapped Chargers, who were forced to part with their 1,000-yard receiver.

Though, as Russini pointed out, that was just talk and no real trade bids were made, the New York Jets were also interested in moving for Allen. She claims that in Houston, however, things were different and the Texans were on the verge of signing the elite receiver. This is the most recent proof that Stroud’s front management is still looking for playmakers.
