The Wisconsin football coaching staff has made a lot of effort, including a recent trip to Waukesha, to retain some of their top players in the state.
Right now, the best recruit in Wisconsin is Owen Strebig, a four-star prospect from Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha who will graduate in 2025. The offensive tackle has received a lot of attention because he is regarded as one of the best recruits at his position. The Wisconsin football staff is now trying one more time to sway Strebig before his official commitment.
Final Push by Wisconsin Football Before Top In-State Prospect Owen Strebig Commits

One of the main subjects of discussion since the new Wisconsin football coaching staff took over about sixteen months ago has been the success of recruiting within the state. Although recruiting success may be found everywhere, it just seems more satisfying to sign the top Wisconsin prospects, and setting a pattern by consistently winning the state’s recruiting contests creates a precedence.
The name that keeps coming up when discussing Wisconsin football recruitment is Waukesha native and the state’s top prospect, Owen Strebig. Many people rank the 2025 offensive tackle as one of the best linemen in the recruiting class, thus the Badgers coaching staff is under a lot of pressure to pursue Strebig hard.
On the football field, the 6-foot-8-inch lineman is a muscular presence who frequently stuffs the most of his opponents’ maneuvers and seldom lets anyone get past him. However, Strebig’s on-field success has attracted a lot of collegiate interest, so it might be too late for Wisconsin football to sign the gifted recruit.
A Look Ahead: Following the Final Wisconsin Push, Who Could Land Owen Strebig?
Strebig now plans to make an announcement on February 8th regarding his college commitment. The prospect will choose between football programs at USC, Miami (FL), Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Florida State. Similar to Wisconsin, Miami has been working hard to influence the prospect prior to his announcement, but it might be too little, too late.
Notre Dame football, which has a strong rapport with Strebig’s staff, has been the front-runner for him since the beginning of his recruitment. Right now, 247 Sports has five crystal ball predictions for Strebig, and each one shows the tackle going to the Fighting Irish.
Though it appears like Strebig has a desire to leave the state, the Wisconsin football staff has been there from the start, trying to attract him. Strebig has made a total of seven trips to Notre Dame, and most recently, he went to Miami to see the staff.
Although it appears that Strebig is gone from the Wisconsin football team, the Badgers are currently ranked ninth in the 2025 recruiting class. Despite the tight pledges of two of the state’s top ten recruits, the Wisconsin football team has had difficulty holding onto its best players. The Badgers appear poised to keep attracting elite prospects and great team fits in spite of their difficulties.
