Channing Frye, who played alongside LeBron James during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, recently shared his blunt assessment of the Los Angeles Lakers’ championship prospects this season during an appearance on FanDuel TV’s ‘Run It Back’ with Michelle Beadle. Despite the Lakers’ efforts to climb the Western Conference standings for a favorable playoff position, Frye remains unconvinced.

LeBron James’ former teammate says Lakers have ‘zero’ chance to win the championship

Beadle reminded Frye of his previous assertion that the Lakers had “zero chance” of winning the championship and asked if he still holds that belief. Frye’s response was unequivocal.

“No, that’s still a zero, that’s absolutely a zero,” Frye chuckled. “… Let’s put it this way, if the playoffs started today, who would they face in the play-in? The Warriors? That’s a 50-50 shot right there. And then you’re looking at matchups against young teams like Minnesota or Dallas, who’s on fire right now? It’s just not adding up.”

Acknowledging his respect for LeBron James, Frye humorously remarked on James’ exceptional performance at the age of 39. He quipped, “Bron, listen, that’s my guy, I love you. If I saw him, I’d tell him the same thing. Hey, you had a great year, big guy, that’s crazy, you’re 39. I sweat going up the stairs, I need a breath, and you’re out here averaging 25.”
