Sports legend Jason Kelce of Philadelphia has had a remarkable month.

A few weeks after the Philadelphia Eagles’ longtime center announced his retirement from the league, Kelce had a pleasant day at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday during the Phillies vs. Braves matinee.

After a brief rain delay, Kelce and fellow Eagles legend Fletcher Cox (who also recently announced his retirement) threw out ceremonial first pitches while wearing bespoke No. 62 Phillies jerseys. A few moments later, while Bryce Harper was still wearing his cleats, Kelce signed them, demonstrating the significance of the player to other Philadelphia sportsmen.

Due to an injured arm, Kelce was worried that he wouldn’t do well on the mound. However, he later informed the Phillies’ broadcast team that all he needed to do was outperform his brother Travis, who threw out a first pitch in Cleveland the previous season. And that, well, didn’t work out that well.

According to Kelce, “the bar was set nice and low.”

But when the time came, Harper received a seed from Kelce, and the Philadelphia icon signed his cleats.

Kelce remarked, “It was an amazing experience.” “Really, really cool.”

During his 13 NFL seasons, Kelce was a member of the Eagles, where he helped the team win Super Bowl LII. And as he demonstrated on Saturday, there is a great deal of affection for Kelce in Philadelphia, even among its baseball players.
