Lexie Hull Inspires Young Minds at William McKinley Elementary for NBA Math Hoops Regionals
Yesterday, William McKinley Elementary School got a special visit from Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull, who stopped by to cheer on students competing in the annual NBA Math Hoops Regionals Competition, presented by Eli Lilly and Company.
The excitement in the gym was electric as students showed off their math skills through an engaging and fast-paced game that combines the fun of basketball with real-world math practice. NBA Math Hoops is more than just a competition—it’s an innovative educational program that turns learning into play, helping students sharpen their arithmetic, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills, all while immersed in the world of hoops.
Lexie Hull, known for her talent on the court and her passion for education, took time to meet with the young competitors, share words of encouragement, and even join in on the Math Hoops fun. Her presence lit up the room and inspired students to push themselves not only in the game but in their academic journeys as well.
“It’s incredible to see how these students are connecting with math through a game they love,” Hull said. “Programs like Math Hoops make learning exciting and show kids that math can be just as fun as sports.”
With support from Eli Lilly and Company, the NBA Math Hoops initiative continues to grow across Indiana and beyond, empowering students through hands-on, meaningful learning experiences. Yesterday’s regional competition was a celebration of hard work, teamwork, and the power of combining academics with athletics.
Congratulations to all the students who participated—you’re all MVPs in our book!
