One of the highlights of the NBA All-Star Weekend was the friendship between Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic.

Off the court, Jokic and Doncic are good friends, and they hung out together during the celebrations in Indianapolis while they were players for the Western Conference All-Star squad.

Could they possibly play for the same NBA team in the future? Jokic said he would be receptive to the idea.

Jokic was asked in Serbian by a reporter if he would like to play alongside Doncic after Sunday’s All-Star Game.

Jokic’s English response was as follows.

“I’m not sure. It’s feasible,” Jokic remarked. “I want to stay in Denver, not go. It’s a terrific organization, and I enjoy being there. But Luka is free to travel if he becomes enraged in Dallas.

I don’t think Jokic will ever play for another team, and it’s unlikely that he will ever leave Denver. I can say it with total assurance.

Nearly every NBA franchise would try their hardest to sign Doncic if he ever decided to leave Dallas.

The Mavericks’ season is going well. Dallas is now the seventh seed in the West with a record of 32–23.

However, in just 33 of the 55 games this season has Kyrie Irving appeared. Even after a mid-season move to add P.J. Washington, Doncic’s supporting group seems questionable.

Doncic still doesn’t seem to have the kind of support he’ll need in a loaded conference to go deep into the playoffs.

Doncic still has two years and about $90 million guaranteed left on his current contract after this season. He inked a five-year, $215 million extension with the Mavs in September of 2022. But because of the way the NBA does business, none of that actually matters.

Doncic will have the freedom to choose where he goes if he wants to leave.

One of his closest buddies already works for the Nuggets, so it would be a tempting landing place.
