Mark Pope, now the head coach for the Kentucky Wildcats, recently expressed his excitement for his new role and gratitude for the warm welcome he’s received from the Kentucky basketball community. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, he described his transition to Kentucky as “the greatest adventure” for himself and his family. He praised the tradition and passion surrounding Kentucky basketball, emphasizing the overwhelming support from the Big Blue Nation.

While Pope hasn’t publicly mentioned his time at BYU since taking on the Kentucky job, he did express appreciation for his nine seasons with the BYU basketball program in a previous post. He reflected on the meaningful relationships and personal growth experienced during his time at BYU, acknowledging the profound impact the university had on his life and career. Despite moving on to Kentucky, Pope’s gratitude for his BYU experience remains evident.

During his tenure as BYU’s head coach, Pope achieved significant success, including a record of 110-52 and two NCAA Tournament appearances. With Pope’s departure, BYU has since hired Kevin Young, formerly of the Phoenix Suns, as their new head coach.
