Hull KR’s ‘intent’ and ‘intensity’ were commended by Wigan Warriors head coach Matt Peet after their 26-10 victory on Friday night.

The Robins defeated the World Club Champions and the incumbent Super League champions with the best performance of the season. Following the game, Peet gave a succinct but direct evaluation, expressing his belief that the outcome will not affect the two teams’ Challenge Cup matchup next month.

During the press conference that followed the game, Peet stated: “Hull KR started with great intent and great energy.” They are among the superior teams. Bravo to them. By getting people in the photo and scurrying effectively, they created their own luck. That is the situation.
“I have been saying all week that I believe there would be a ripple effect from the two matches. There is still a lot of rugby to be played in between, so it’s not like it’s the week before, and we want to get better for Catalans next week no matter what happens.”

Wigan’s account disappointed Peet since they felt they had underperformed following a “soft” performance at Craven Park. For most of the game, they were second best; at halftime, Rovers had an 18-0 lead.
