Jimmy Butler has expressed his intention to conclude his NBA career with the Miami Heat. Additionally, he has revealed his desire to play for Flamengo in the Novo Basquete Brasil after his time in the NBA comes to an end.

Jimmy Butler affirmed his intention to make the Miami Heat his final NBA team, stating, “In the NBA? For sure,” in an interview with Rohan Nadkarni of GQ. He expressed his desire to play for Flamengo afterward, citing his Brazilian heritage, as he is half-Brazilian.

Butler’s connection to Brazil is strengthened by his friendship with Al-Hilal forward Neymar. Currently, Butler has one more year remaining on his contract with the Miami Heat, with the option to pick up a $52.4 million extension for the 2025-26 season or explore free agency.

While Butler hopes to prolong his tenure in South Beach, the Miami Heat’s front office has yet to engage in extension discussions. Despite this, Pat Riley has indicated a reluctance to trade Butler, even amid disagreements over his behavior following their early playoff exit.

Expressing disappointment over the Heat’s premature playoff departure in 2024, Butler suggested they would have fared better against the Boston Celtics had he been available. He missed the first round due to a knee injury sustained in the play-in tournament.

Butler vowed to return stronger, declaring, “I’m right back on they ass and everybody know it,” once he recovers from his knee ailment.

Throughout the regular season, Butler showcased his value, averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49.9 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc.
