Akeem Miskdeen is scheduled to join coach Dusty May’s staff on Thursday morning, continuing the coaching changeover for the Michigan men’s basketball team.

Before fresh rumors surfaced on Thursday morning, 247 was the first to speculate about the move’s potential on Wednesday night.

May returns a well-known face to the sidelines that he patrols in Miskdeen. Miskdeen was May’s assistant coach at Florida Atlantic for his first three seasons there. They oversaw three straight winning seasons for the Owls during their tenure together, setting the stage for May’s more recent success in Boca Raton.

After that, Miskdeen worked with Mike White for a season at Florida before following White to Georgia for the previous two seasons. Similar to Miskdeen, May was a member of White’s staff and was sidelined for multiple seasons in Florida before to being hired by Florida Atlantic.

The majority of Miskdeen’s early career was spent in the south, even prior to his most recent stops. Following his transfer from a small college, he played for Queens for two seasons. He then worked as a coach at Hampton for five seasons.

Miskdeen, who is now back in the Midwest with May, has joined Mike Boynton Jr. on the coaching staff of the newly redesigned Wolverines. Michigan continues to veer away from former coach Juwan Howard and their staff following their awful 2023–24 campaign.

Despite being new to Ann Arbor, May helped him shape the turnaround by bringing in Miskdeen, a familiar face.
