It’s that time of year in college football when rising seniors are crisscrossing the country to check out potential schools, while coaches are pulling out all the stops for their top recruits. Among Texas Tech’s top priorities is Jackson Blackwell, a defensive lineman from Lorena, Texas, graduating in 2025. Blackwell recently spent 48 hours in Raiderland from Tuesday to Thursday.

“The visit was amazing—I had the chance to meet and chat with the entire Red Raider football program and got a glimpse of the culture they’re building,” Blackwell said. “My family and I toured the new facilities with the coaches, had position-specific meetings, and had conversations with current players about the team. Personally, my favorite part was getting to reconnect with Coach McGuire, Coach Fitch, and the rest of the staff. They were the main reason for my visit, and I was really looking forward to catching up with them.”
