Joel Embiid made waves in the NBA on Monday night with his incredible performance against the San Antonio Spurs.

Embiid scored more than 58 points in a single game for the third time in his professional career. He broke his personal record by scoring 70 points in one night, surpassing his career high of 59 points.

With that, Embiid surpassed Wilt Chamberlain, the franchise record holder, and achieved his own career high.

When Embiid’s 70-point performance came to an end, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ great center Karl Anthony-Towns captured everyone’s attention with a performance of 50 points or more. Towns scored 62 points that following night, albeit it was not enough to surpass Embiid’s total.

Four days later, superstar Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Atlanta Hawks in a shootout with 73 points. The star player for the Phoenix Suns, Devin Booker, also scored 62 points that evening.

The NBA then experienced a remarkable week that included two games in which players scored 60 or more points on the same day.

In April of 1978, the last time two players in the league scored more over 60 points in one game was. George Gervin of the San Antonio Spurs scored sixty-three points, while David Thompson of the Denver Nuggets scored seventy-three.

It occurred twice more, with Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain on January 17, 1962, and Elgin Baylor and Chamberlain on December 8, 1961.
