In the latest NFL Mock Draft, the Seattle Seahawks are projected to select Miami Hurricanes defensive back Kamren Kinchens, regarded by many as the “Top Safety in Class.” Over the past two years, the Seahawks have successfully added Pro Bowl talent through the draft with Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon, both earning nominations as finalists for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Witherspoon’s potential win is yet to be announced on Thursday, Feb. 8.

Despite on-field performance not meeting expectations, General Manager John Schneider, and the recently dismissed Pete Carroll are acknowledged for the success of their draft picks in recent years. Despite Carroll’s departure and Mike Macdonald taking over, the Seahawks could once again focus on bolstering their secondary in the first round, as suggested by a CBS Sports mock draft. The prediction places the Seahawks at No. 16 overall, selecting Kamren Kinchens from the Miami Hurricanes.

According to CBS Sports, many teams view Kinchens as the top safety in the draft class, praising his range and versatility as a defensive back. Kinchens’ impressive college career at Miami includes 162 total tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, 14 passes defended, 11 interceptions, and two touchdowns. The addition of a playmaking safety like Kinchens would inject more youth into the Seahawks’ secondary, complementing the existing talents of Witherspoon, Woolen, Coby Bryant, and Jerrick Reed II.

While the specific direction that Macdonald and Schneider will take in the draft remains uncertain, the emphasis on adding talent to a defense that faced challenges in the previous season is highlighted. The selection of Kinchens could contribute to the ongoing effort to fortify the Seahawks’ defensive capabilities.
