NFL Insider Thinks Star Receiver Could Land with the Colts

The Indianapolis Colts have a number of personnel issues to address as they start their 2024 NFL Draft tomorrow. Wide receiver is one of the most significant, if not the most crucial. Although there’s a potential Indianapolis will acquire a pass-catcher through trade, they also stand to gain one through the draft.

The Colts are one of two clubs, in NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah’s opinion, that have the best chance of acquiring top San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabe McCready has already been signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Davis signed a free agent, but the Tennessee Titans acquired Calvin Ridley instead. If they can offer the right compensation, this makes sense considering the gap Ridley is leaving. To be honest, that seems like something Indianapolis would do better than the Jaguars.

Aiyuk just had what was perhaps his best season, hauling in 75 passes for 1,342 yards and seven scores. Aiyuk, who could fetch over $25 million on an average annual value basis, would be expected to sign a new contract if the Colts were to execute the move. This doesn’t seem like a Chris Ballard move, considering the amount of money Indianapolis has already spent on keeping its best players.

The thought of what a talent such as Aiyuk could accomplish with Shane Steichen’s

insult. Aiyuk’s presence on the team would benefit wide receivers like Josh Downs and Michael Pittman Jr., running back Jonathan Taylor, and quarterback Anthony Richardson. However, don’t anticipate this kind of transaction. In addition to the money Aiyuk would owe, Indy would probably have to exchange draft capital.

It’s something to keep an eye on as the Colts get ready to choose their next generation of players in the coming days.
