On the recruiting path, the Oho State football team and head coach Ryan Day are making progress. With the pledges of three-star safety Cody Haddad and four-star tight end Nate Roberts yesterday, the Buckeyes officially jumped to the top of the 247 Sports 2025 recruiting class rankings.

With 13 commits, Ohio State may finally land the top overall class—something not even Urban Meyer was able to accomplish while he was in Columbus—including highly sought-after five-star athletes Devin Sanchez, Tavian St. Clair, and corner Na’eem Offord.

Ohio State’s recruiting efforts have been impressive lately, with recent additions such as Roberts, Haddad, four-star linebacker Tarvos Alford, four-star defensive lineman London Merritt, four-star receiver De’zie Jones, and four-star safety DeShawn Stewart in the past month.

The momentum doesn’t seem to be waning, with the Buckeyes still in contention for several top recruits, including four-star running backs Bo Jackson and Jordan Davison, five-star safety Trey McNutt, five-star offensive tackle David Sanders, four-star defensive end Damien Shanklin, and four-star receiver Jaime Ffrench.

Furthermore, Ohio State’s Spring game provided an excellent opportunity for recruits to experience the electrifying atmosphere of being a Buckeye, with over 45 recruits in attendance. Among them was 2025 five-star safety Jonah Williams from Galveston, Texas, who got a taste of what it’s like to play in front of 80,000 passionate fans.

Although Williams is expected to end up in Oklahoma, his attendance at the spring game is a strong indication that he is at the very least very interested in joining the Ohio State football team. There may be a connection there as well because he is close friends with Devin Sanchez, an Ohio State recruit.

All things considered, Mark Pantoni and his team have had remarkable success in their recruitment efforts. With any luck, Ohio State can finish this class well and hold the top spot come 2025.
