Panthers reveals replacement for James Fisher-Harris..

The Penrith Panthers are already considering a potential successor for James Fisher-Harris, who was officially given a release from the last two seasons of his contract on Wednesday.

Fisher-Harris, the 2023 Golden Boot winner and a crucial member of the team’s front pack during their three straight NRL premierships, was given permission to return to his native New Zealand due to compassionate reasons.

Although he will sign a four-year contract with the New Zealand Warriors at the beginning of the following season, the Panthers intend to find a replacement to step into his position.

According to sources who spoke with The Sydney Morning Herald, the Panthers have already shown interest in Wests Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu.
Utoikamanu has a mutual option in his contract for the following season, and he is committed to the Wests Tigers for the duration of the season.

But because of a peculiar clause, the prop can become a free agent at the end of the season.

Utoikamanu will become a free agent if he doesn’t participate in at least two State of Origin games this season or if the Wests Tigers are eliminated from the playoffs.

Utoikamanu, who made his Origin debut for the NSW Blues last year, has improved tremendously this season and has been a major contributor to the team’s two wins.

The teenage forward might give in to the allure of joining the Panthers, even though he might be destined to lead the Wests Tigers in the future.

Regarding his future, Utoikamanu stated to The Sydney Morning Herald earlier this year, “I’m trying to focus on making the top eight, that’s what I want to do – I want to stay at the Tigers.”

“Every minute I’ve spent here has been wonderful. They’ve given me the fantastic chance to develop into the player I am today.

“I wish to support the club in return. We’ll have to wait and see. I haven’t paid attention to conjecture. I’m attempting to put others before myself because Benji is a huge believer in “team first.”
