Trey Yesavage, a junior at East Carolina, has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Dick Howser Trophy National Pitcher of the Month for April, as announced by the organization on Friday. Yesavage is the first player from East Carolina to receive this honor since Carson Whisenhunt in March 2021.

Hailing from Boyertown, Pennsylvania, Yesavage achieved an impressive 4-0 record with a 1.03 ERA in four April starts. He held opposing batters to a mere .105 batting average, conceding only three runs and nine hits while striking out 50 batters and issuing just nine walks in 26.1 innings.

Yesavage consistently achieved double-digit strikeouts in all four games, including a career-best 15 strikeouts in a win against Wichita State. He maintained a shutout in three appearances and pitched at least six innings in each game. Additionally, Yesavage was honored as the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week three times (April 8th, 15th, and 29th).

Heading into the upcoming series against South Florida, Yesavage leads the American Athletic Conference in opposing batting average (.148), strikeouts (113), and wins (nine). Nationally, he ranks second in wins, third in hits allowed per nine innings (4.52), strikeouts, and WHIP (0.81), and seventh in strikeouts per nine innings (15.03).
