Hoiberg experienced the feelings when the Huskers heard their name called. Nebraska’s coach had some time to himself on Sunday to savor the moment when the team received the good news.

It was not Fred Hoiberg there at that exact moment.

When word spread that the Husker men’s basketball program was participating in the dance for the first time in ten years, he was alone in his room upstairs.

“Let me be upfront. Given where we are at the moment and returning at this time of year, I became a little emotional about it,” Hoiberg remarked. That’s the main focus. We came to Nebraska for that reason.

He came here to incorporate Nebraska into the Madness on a regular basis. But it was a slippery, steep hill to climb. And that COVID year was most likely a symbol for the “Beware Falling Rocks” warning. At first, it was a different type of madness.

Consider this: Should Nebraska defeat Texas A&M in Friday’s NCAA Tournament, it will be the

The Huskers’ 24th victory of the year will tie the number of victories Hoiberg had in his first three years of attempting to establish this program in the current airspace.

When you succeed, it’s not something to take for granted, even if you were expecting it. Not on a Sunday, that is.

On CBS, the first set of brackets flashed. No big deal, no Nebraska. Everyone knew it was on its way. Indeed, it was. It wasn’t a lengthy wait. Whoa. Tominaga-style, place your hands over your ears.

Nebraska. in position eight. Let that sink in for a few beats before you go get it.

Your team’s noise filled the house. Their joyous expressions on TV. Man, this is

what the purpose of that climb is.

Yes, a draw between the Huskers and Texas A&M of all schools: “We don’t pretend to be the athletic director.”
By coincidence, the selection committee chose to place

After we finish this, let’s try our hardest to focus on the game itself for the remainder of the week.

Indeed, Texas A&M, where Trev Alberts recently took a job as athletic director, is Nebraska’s opponent in the NCAA Tournament. That plot undoubtedly generated a lot of attention on social media immediately away. Presumably the selection committee merely happened to pair these two together by coincidence?

Fans may expect a thrilling matchup. There is only a basketball game between the Huskers, who are ranked eighth, and the Aggies on Friday in Memphis.

When asked how enthused the crowd may be, Rienk Mast and Josiah Allick simply laughed.

against that specific enemy.

We won’t be acting as the athletic director, though. The men’s basketball squad is our opponent,” Mast declared. That is our main objective. I am aware that this will mean a little bit more for the supporters. But we’re not pretending to be the athletic director, as I mentioned. That group of guys is who we are playing, the team. That is our main objective.

Although Allick acknowledged that athletes are certainly unaware of all the behind-the-scenes activities, he said Alberts was always kind to them throughout their contacts.

He was always such a real, nice guy, and I got to know him from when I was on the student-athlete advisory committee. Thus, there is no animosity among the players,” Allick remarked. “I understand that the fan base clearly feels differently than that, but we’re

attempting to approach the game as if it were any other, and we need to take care of business.”

Mast went on: “We’re not going to allow that to be a diversion. Let us not be swayed by that. Just keep your eyes on the ball.”

After Alberts’ decision to transfer from Nebraska to Texas A&M last week, feelings are still running high. At the very least, that’s how it appears in the mentions section of every social media post made by Alberts.

“Well, this will be fun ….” Alberts posted an emoji of laughter. “Congratulations Coach Hoiberg and Coach (Buzz) Williams!”

Regardless of the opponent, Husker hoops was sure to make history in this game since it was a chance for the program to win its first-ever NCAA Tournament.

Right now, Fred Hoiberg’s focus is on his Huskers becoming
