Ange Postecoglou remarked that Tottenham’s deficiency in “belief and conviction” was evident, pledging to address this issue as their hopes for Champions League qualification took a hit with a loss to Chelsea.

Following a 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, Spurs find themselves trailing fourth-placed Aston Villa by seven points, although they have a game in hand. With matches against Liverpool and title contenders Manchester City looming, Tottenham has now suffered three consecutive losses in the Premier League.

Postecoglou acknowledged his team’s faltering confidence and resolve, stating, “They’ve lost a little bit of belief and conviction in their football and that’s for me to fix.” Despite a promising start under Postecoglou, Spurs have only won two of their last seven games, necessitating a swift return to winning ways while hoping for a downturn in Aston Villa’s form.

Regarding the loss to Chelsea, Postecoglou admitted it wasn’t a great performance from Spurs and attributed it to a lack of belief and conviction in their game plan. He emphasized the need to address their mindset to play the style of football they desire, taking responsibility for rectifying the situation through hard work.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea’s manager, celebrated his 400th game in English football with a satisfying victory over his former club. Pochettino expressed contentment with Chelsea’s competitiveness, highlighting it as their objective since the start of the season, despite not considering it their best performance. He emphasized the importance of continuous improvement and competitiveness to achieve their goals.
