Following their injuries against the Cronulla Sharks last weekend, Tyrone Munro and Tevita Tatola will both miss sizable periods of time, according to the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Despite having a bye right after the game, neither player was able to play in the team’s subsequent away game against the Melbourne Storm.

The club’s head of performance, Andrew Croll, has revealed that Tatola has sustained a fractured foot. The prop will miss about three months of action, with the first six weeks being non-weight-bearing.

“Unfortunately, very early in the game against Cronulla, Junior Tatola sustained a foot injury and he had to leave the field,” Croll stated in a video posted on the South Sydney website.

“Upon evaluation, it appeared to be a serious football injury, therefore the next day he underwent scans. The patient was diagnosed with a fifth metatarsal fracture of the foot, sought medical advice immediately away, and underwent surgery to fix the foot fracture.

“The timetable for your return is going to be rather extensive. He will not be able to bear weight for six weeks, and his return to play is usually delayed by twelve weeks.”

Tyrone Munro’s collarbone has re-injured, the club has announced, however it is uncertain when he will be able to play again.

“During the collision with Cronulla, Tyrone Munro sustained a new injury to his collarbone. He is currently having a review with the surgeon after undergoing scans to confirm the fracture, but surgery is most certainly in store for him, according to Croll on the winger.

Cameron Murray, the captain of South Sydney, should be cleared to go to Melbourne while he works through the NRL’s concussion protocols.

Better news for Cam Murray, I would say. He clearly failed the assessment that day and exited the field with a head injury. After he started the 11-day stand-down period, he has not experienced any symptoms. Regarding the captain, Croll stated, “He seems to be in a good position to return to some skills with the team next week.”

The Rabbitohs have also revealed that Alex Johnston is progressing well toward a comeback. This week, he was able to run, and he plans to resume skill training within the next two weeks.

Campbell Graham is also making great progress in the gym and has resumed running; it looks like non-contact training will pick back up in a month.
