Rams senior exec gets NY Jets GM interview request

After his time with the Rams, Ray Farmer is seeking a second opportunity.

Another Les Snead disciple will soon be hired as general manager after Brad Holmes transformed the Detroit Lions from a laughingstock to the number one seed.

The New York Jets announced Monday that they will interview Ray Farmer, a senior personnel executive in the Rams front office, as part of their ongoing, at times absurd, search for a general manager and head coach.

Under the NFL’s minority hiring program, the Rams would receive two third-round compensatory draft picks if the Jets hired Farmer. This is the same amount of money that Los Angeles received when the Lions hired Holmes in 2021.

Although Farmer has previously attracted the attention of general managers during his time with the Rams, his record with the Cleveland Browns is as bad as that of any other football player who passes through that organization. In 2021, Farmer was interviewed by the Jaguars for their vacant general manager position.

Other candidates for the Jets general manager position include Mike Borgonzi, Mike Greenberg (not that one), Trey Brown, Alec Halaby, and former general managers Ryan Grigson, Thomas Dimitroff, and Jon Robinson.
