Rangers eye new move to sign “unbelievable” £3m star

Given that many rumors coming out of Ibrox suggest that there will be several high-profile departures this summer, Rangers and Philippe Clement appear ready to rekindle their interest in one of the top players in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers may have to sell in order to make a purchase.
The primary rumor circulating among Rangers supporters is manager Clement’s admonition that current players will have to depart the team before the roster can be reconstructed. Right now, the two defenders who are drawing the most attention are James Tavernier and Connor Goldson, who have both been linked to moves outside of Scotland.

In the early weeks of the summer window, Rangers have brought a number of new players into Ibrox, despite their seeming financial difficulties.

Rangers may be about to invest a lot of money on a target that Clement had previously turned down because the team has been making good use of free transfers thus far this transfer window.

Rangers are now again pursuing a £3 million striker.
The Rangers have added Lawrence Shankland back to their list of objectives for this summer, as The Daily Record was the first to reveal. According to the newspaper, Clement had previously expressed his disapproval of the striker being brought to Ibrox in January, but he now seems to have changed his mind.
According to the article, Shankland may be the subject of an official bid before the Scottish Premiership season reopens on August 3. Now in the last year of his current contract with Hearts, the 28-year-old could command a price of up to £3 million should he decide to leave the team this summer.
Rangers’ sustained interest in Shankland is justified given that the striker attracted the attention of many Scottish and international clubs with his outstanding campaign last year. The 28-year-old scored 24 goals in the league the previous season, eight more than Cyriel Dessers, the leading scorer for the Gers.

Speaking on Shankland’s success at Hearts, his current manager Steven Naismith spoke highly of the player telling the press: “It’s incredible. He’s had plaudits and people have talked throughout the season but I don’t think people will really understand it for a few years until it has been and gone and someone else is scoring goals.

“Hearts did a lot to get him here and then put their faith in him that he was going to be good. He has been a brilliant pro, a good leader, and his goal record over the two seasons here is unbelievable.”

With Rangers needing to sell existing players before they can make new signings this summer, Shankland’s move to Ibrox will likely rely upon one of the Gers’ current stars leaving the club first.
